Wish I’d had my camera!

I took Ari for a run and some retrieving practice in the woods this evening when it was just starting to get dark. I hid 7 “Verweiserdosen” (little green plastic jars with snap-on lids that have little holes in them to release the scent of the goodies inside) for Ari to find, as well as a couple of DeadFowl dummies. While he was retrieving part of his dinner, he caught the scent of a deer, which he proceeded to track and flush. He then went back to hunting for the rest of his dinner. About 20 minutes down the path, having finished his dinner, he had just retrieved his duck dummy when he caught the scent of the deer again. Still holding the dummy firmly in his mouth, he pointed, tracked and flushed the deer again, followed it for a while, and returned when I called him back, still carrying the dummy! Ari grinned at me and pranced off to carry his dummy proudly all the way home!  I wish so much I had had a video camera with me!
